* tis Heavy and Thick (with a 9 cell and the Geforce Go 7400, the weight comes to 2.4kg)
* The built-in speakers Lenovo FRU 42T4585 Battery
* The screen is too bright even at the lowest level (when all the lights are off)
* MediaDirect is actually a variation of Windows XP. It does not save any power. I expected it to be a one-button touch to play media. Well, it is, but not the battery power saver kind I expected.
* There are no protective covers for the once-in-a-while used VGA port.
Even though the HTC Thunderbolt didn't make our longest-lasting smartphones list, that doesn't mean owners have to settle for short laptop battery life. It is possible to squeeze all-day power out of the phone. We've found a slew of simple things you can do to get more hours off the charger without making your phone pointless as a mobile computing device (that don't involve a bulky battery).
Remember, the HTC EVO 4G had some longevity issues, too, and we suggested you check out these tips over at Good and Evo (25+ at last count) to make it last longer. Several of these apply to the Thunderbolt as well. The forum-goers over at Android Central have a monster thread about the topic. And, of course, we have our own (general) battery tips for Android phones. After mining these tips for my own Thunderbolt, I've been able to get 12 – 16 hours on a regular basis.
* The Media Buttons are not exactly easy to press, but then, it could be because they were meant to be like that
* The Webcam (camera) sucks power even if you are not using it. Dell Support says that this is by design. You will notice that it gets noticeably warm even though its not used. BIGwaste of Lenovo 51J0226 Battery.
* The laptop gets hot and fans spin even under light usage (just surfing web). No amount of meddling with the clock speed could stop the fans from spinning up every once and then.
* Not able to underclock the graphics card to save power. The nVidia applet keeps telling me that tests fail when I try to apply the settings.
* "Integrated Sound Blaster® Audigy™ HD Software Edition" .. the software edition was added later so early birds who opted for it were surprised to find that it came with a Sigmatel sound card instead of a Creative one.
Anyway, this is just 10 things out of around 30 tips all told. I'm not sacrificing any functionality I desire, I'm getting all the data I need/want in a timely manner, and I have all-day battery life. Win. Check the sources for more tips to see which ones you can deploy to add some life to your Thunderbolt. And if you have any new tips, let us know in the Lenovo 51J0226 Battery comments!
"Reminiscence Effect" іѕ a condition οf reduced array performance, οr failure, due tο a array οnƖу using those cells thаt аrе fully discharged аnԁ charged οn a regular basis. If οn a regular basis a NiCd οr NiMH array іѕ οnƖу partially discharged before being recharged, іt "forgets" thаt іt hаѕ usable capacity tο further discharge аƖƖ thе way down. Thе result іѕ loss οf performance аnԁ shorter array life bесаυѕе thе array іѕ using less thаn іtѕ rіɡht full capacity.
